Thermal Bath Guide reviews thermal baths throughout europe independently, with no bias from commercial partners and listening to the advice and tips of our readers. Below is some more information about how we rate thermal baths.

All thermal baths that we review are given a score based on the following criteria:

Architecture - how well is the complex designed in terms of style, context with its setting, layout, ergonomics, and of course how well is it maintained?

Setting – is the thermal baths setting an important and positive part of the spa experience, or does it have the opposite effect?

Ambience - does the thermal spa have a positive atmosphere that allows you to relax, forget your worries and enjoy yourself? Is it overcrowded or eerily quiet?

Facilities - what is the range and quality of facilities provided to visitors of the thermal bath? All facilities are considered including the baths, showers, changing facilities, restaurants, saunas etc. The only limitation is that we only include facilities provided to visitors as part of the standard thermal bath entry ticket i.e. spa treatments, saunas and private pools that cost extra are not included.

Value - does it provide value for money? It’s not about being cheap necessarily, but making you feel that you got what you paid for, or ideally even more.

The individual criteria scores are then added up to produce an overall score for the thermal bath, which is then used to produce its star rating. We of course always show the breakdown of scores in our reviews so that you can make a judgment based on the criteria most important to you. The star ratings are awarded by points as follows:
